Going to war

Well, last night the Insurancesalesman joined the force of three in EverQuest2. Now comes the time to take the battle to the PvP servers.

Quickjot: Mondays

How come that when some part of your household has a day off it becomes increasingly difficult for you to get out of bed yourself?

Going to the Diplomat tomorrow…

to play the next session of our new roleplaying extra-vaganza. Well, “new” might be a bit faded by now but the fun is only increasing for every session. It’s fun to participate in the Lawyer’s challenges – so far we have had lots of success and our feeling of immortality is reaching a point where the possibility is failure….. I just hope it isn’t tomorrow!

The Son is planning his scenario – his first with my friends – and I’m typing away at mine as well. It’s going to be fun to see who is going to pick up the torch after the Lawyer.

Quickjot: Sushi

How come that even though you think you buy a lot of sushi and contemplate giving your cat the last one or two bites that you end up gobbling up the whole thing yourself?

Trying to get your thoughts in rank and file

This blogging business is actually harder than initially expected. I always rather thought of diaries as something you could do if you wanted but that it required no real skill or talent.

I have now found that thoughts and opinions along those lines will only give you a hard smack with the Mallet of Arrogance Slaying. It is tough, very tough actually and I’m not very good at it.

I think the first thing I have to learn is to categorize my thoughts so that I can become better at distinguishing the interesting from the glaring mundane. You have 24 hours every day, most of those hours are spent doing things that are not that interesting from a “writing them down” point of view.

Yesterday evening I sat staring at the ludicrous sub-title: “Thoughts and wisdom” and then it struck me: Write down your thoughts and your comments to your thoughts. It will become tedious sometimes of course but it it propably better to write SOMETHING instead of writing NOTHING.

Here’s to trying anyway, I’ll attempt to write at least three times every week (no need to set up idealistic and un-realistic goals that can only result in failure).

Quickjot: MMOs

How can you still look forward to new MMOs when you have ten standing on your shelf behind you, only one of which you still play? I blame global warming.

Three days…

of tutoring at work. I actually quite enjoy my work as an instructor, you meet all kinds of people and you learn something every time. This time for instance you find out that what at first glance appear as very conservative, financial managers can actually be hormone-pumped adolescents in disguise.

Point in case: The office next to ours is occupied by a legal firm with very female secretaries as part of their staff. The amount of photos taken of these three females during three days of instruction was nearly shameful and would have made several Hollywood stars (including Brad Pitt) blush that they ever sneered at a paparazzi.
